MARCHING IN THE DARK awarded First prize of the International Competition at IsReal Festival (Nuoro).

June 7, 2025/in News /by clindoeil
We’re very grateful that Marching in the Dark has been awarded First prize of the International Competition at IsReal Festival (Nuoro).

Jury statement by Valeria D’Ambrosio, Cecile Embleton, Marco Lutzu:

This documentary, with great visual and sound qualities, succeeds in developing a narrative capable of showing the psychological evolution of the protagonist. Through a skilful use of time, the director lets us enter the emotional present and the deepest intimacy of the character, as exemplified by the last scene of the film.
Thanks to a surprising sensitivity of gaze for a first feature, the documentary reminds us that injustice is an ancient form of abuse, which continues to perpetrate itself in every place and time.
In a pyramid hierarchy modelled on the logic of a systemic capitalism, we perceive that at the bottom, very often, are women, the ultimate victims of a chain of injustices that they must necessarily overcome. Through caring for each other, within a space of physical and psychological abuse, a group of women find their redemption because they are endowed with a genuinely feminine ‘resistance constancy’, which the director restores to us in a film full of tenderness.
