“Draw for change!” Women’s day events

Because women have things to say…and draw!

Through “Draw For Change!”, we hear the echoes of female artists challenging norms and shaping narratives.

Don’t miss today’s “Draw For Change!” events on this International Women’s Day. 

  • Join us for the screening of ‘Behind the Lines’ and conference with the director Alaa Amer at  Musee des confluences in Lyon at 20.00.
  • “Draw for change!” is part of De Cinema‘s day of empowerment of women through a unique collective film experience: at 13.00 – a shot of ‘A stroke of freedom’ with Egyptian cartoonist Doaa el-Adl. At 14.00 – Take Up Space – a creative workshop. Get busy with Chrostin with pen, paper, text and colour to visualise your voice. Drawing experience is not a requirement. Sign up for a change!

“Tree of Violence” at Human Rights Watch Film Festival: London

We are very glad to announce that the UK premiere of ‘Tree of Violence’ from the series Draw For Change is happening at Human Rights Watch Film Festival: London 2024.

We’re delighted to share ‘Behind the Lines’ and ‘We Are Fire’ from the series “Draw for change!” have been selected for the Internationaal Filmfestival Assen.

Marching in the Dark selected at CPH:DOX

Marching in the Dark, the first feature-length documentary by Kinshuk Surjan , will premiere at CPH:DOX next month and is competing for the HUMAN:RIGHTS Award. Join us for the world premiere in Copenhagen on the 19th, 21st or 24th of March!

Set against the backdrop of escalating farmer suicides in India, Sanjivani, a young farmers widow, strives for financial independence and a better future for her children. She finds strength in counseling sessions with a local psychologist and other widowed farmers and ends up consulting distressed women when another suicide occurs.

The film is a Belgian-Dutch-Indian co-production, produced by Evelien De Graef and Hanne Phlypo of Clin d’oeil films, in co-production with SNG Film (Digna Sinke) and Arya Rothe from NoCut Film Collective. Beautiful imagery from the hands of Leena Patoli, Carl Rotiers and Vishel Vittal, edited by the wonderful Joelle Alexis and sound carefully handled by Puneet Dwivedi, Imtiyaz Jumnalkar, Mark Glynne and Olmo van Straalen. A very big thank you to everyone else who was involved!
